Today TikTok went down.
And almost immediately, people felt it.
Some were annoyed.
Some panicked.
Some didn’t know what to do with the quiet.
Creators couldn’t post. Businesses lost visibility. People kept refreshing their phones like maybe it would magically come back. And honestly… it says a lot about how connected we’ve become to something that can disappear in a second.
It made me stop and think.
How quickly we lean on things that aren’t steady.
Social media isn’t bad. It can be a gift. It helps us connect, share stories, even spread the Gospel. But days like today expose something deeper. When an app goes down and our peace goes with it, that’s a signal worth paying attention to.
The Bible says,
“The grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”
Platforms will crash. Algorithms will change. Trends will come and go. What feels important today might be forgotten tomorrow. But God doesn’t move like that. He doesn’t glitch. He doesn’t log off.
Jesus didn’t need a platform to change lives. Paul didn’t need followers to make an impact. The early church didn’t have a feed to scroll, yet revival still spread from home to home, heart to heart.
Maybe TikTok being down today isn’t just an inconvenience. Maybe it’s a pause.
A moment to breathe.
A chance to pray instead of scroll.
A reminder to talk to God before talking to an audience.
When TikTok goes down, God is still listening.
When the feed stops refreshing, His mercy still is.
When the platform is quiet, heaven isn’t.
So maybe this is a good time to put the phone down for a minute. Lift your eyes. Check your heart.
The app might be down.
But God never is.
